Gourmet Stocker

General Summary: To keep the store fully and attractively stocked and to provide efficient, friendly and helpful customer service for sales of gourmet items to help meet department goals. Participate in creating a positive environment that encourages the New Leaf team culture.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service
Ensure interactions with customers are always governed by honesty, integrity and the highest standard of ethical conduct.
Make sure that all customers are treated in a friendly manner, made to feel comfortable and are always satisfied with their shopping experience.
Proactively greet all customers as they enter the department in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner.
Be proactive in offering samples and suggestions for purchase and ways to use product. Refer to all store resources and staff to find answers. Ensure customer leaves with the information they have requested. All employees must be well-versed in store layout and Standard Operating Procedures.
Place a special order if we don't stock an approved product. Follow special order procedures.
Follow through with customer suggestions, comments and complaints from beginning to end.
Always offer a solution that will satisfy the customer, including any necessary returns or exchanges according to New Leaf policies and procedures.
Apply customer service standards consistently over the phone, as well as in person.
Always thank the customer for shopping with New Leaf.
Support all Food Service departments with any customer needs.
Learn and use correct pronunciation of products.
Operations
Assist in regular department inventories and ensure stock rotation.
Coordinate and direct daily communication between morning and evening crews.
Assist in ensuring facility is properly maintained. Report faulty equipment or other facility issues to management.
Maintain gourmet displays, prep and storage areas in clean, orderly condition according to department procedures, and all aspects of sales floor operations.
Receive deliveries following established procedures. Check deliveries for damage, quality and accuracy. Rotate deliveries into storage. Ensure proper product dating and labeling procedures are followed. Notify management of any possible discrepancies or concerns. Help with unloading as needed.
Work to ensure department priorities are met as set by the Gourmet Buyer/Manager or Food Service Manager, including daily shift task checklists.
Follow food safety and sanitation regulations maintaining correct temperatures for; receiving, storing, and rotating according to Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain daily temp logs, as directed.
Alert Gourmet Buyer/Manager or Food Service Manager to low inventories or out-of-stocks of products and supplies.
Implement and support all New Leaf department programs, including knowledge of products and ingredients.
Merchandising
Assist in ensuring the monthly sales and promotional calendar is supported at all levels of the store to include signage, marketing materials, demos, social media and events. Implement sales and pricing strategy developed by the Support Office. Assist in cross merchandising with other departments.
Stay informed and engaged in carrying out store merchandising goals.
Ensure that the department is fully stocked to give appearance of abundance, products are labeled accurately, and of highest quality in order to attract customer purchases. This includes facing, rotating and culling. Prepare cuts of cheese for best yield and customer appeal according to department standards. Prep, package and stock items as assigned. Review and verify updates on scale and shelf tags.
Stay informed about all product literature, new items, price changes, special and any events.
Implement two one-hour staffed tastings every week as assigned.
Other
Perform other tasks assigned by Food Service Manager and/or Gourmet Buyer/Manager.
Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication and listening skills
Retail and customer service experience
Ability to handle multiple demands in a calm and effective manner
Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments
Knowledge of products and trends in the natural food industry, a plus
Ability to create a positive environment and work as team member
Organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrated ability to make decisions using good judgment
Experience implementing systems and procedures
Ability and interest to learn about products
Ability to plan and work with limited supervision
Excellent knife handling skills
Special Requirements
Must be 18 years or older
Must be fluent in written and spoken English
Comfortable and willing to work with meat
Willingness to work with sanitizers and cleaners
Education/Experience
Food Service experience - knowledge or interest in domestic and imported cheeses
Familiarity with natural food, nutrition and food sensitivities
Basic skills in math, weights and measures
Knowledge of sanitary food handling and preparation techniques
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation
Able to stand for long periods of time
Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment
Must be able to perform functions with repetitive wrist and arm motion

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
