Summary:
As The Director of Greenhouse Operations at Rocket Farms you will be a pivotal leader in orchestrating crop production, ensuring top quality, meeting customer expectations, and driving profitability.
This integral role will oversee the seamless coordination between horticulture, production, demand planning, procurement, sales, safety, and operations.
The candidate will play a vital role in identifying gaps, collaborating on process improvement, and implementing strategies to ensure continuous enhancement across the entire operational spectrum, with a strong emphasis on horticulture, particularly in blooming plants.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
Create, develop, and nurture a culture of operational excellence and product quality through best industry practices, emphasizing expertise in blooming plants, foliage, and edibles.
Enhance communication with the sales team regarding demand availability by facilitating a synchronized and responsive approach, ultimately optimizing product availability and exceeding customer expectations.
Supervise all activities and operations in Half Moon Bay, ensuring the highest standards in horticulture.
Promote the strategic plan to advance the company's mission and objectives, emphasizing revenue, profitability, and growth, with a focus on diverse horticultural products.
Lead an interdepartmental team guiding the unique requirements of blooming plants, foliage, and edibles.
Communicate problems related to crops, labor, employee safety, and housekeeping issues, tailoring solutions to the specific challenges of horticulture.
Coordinate and drive operations, greenhouse, and sales activities while considering the nuances of blooming plants, foliage, and edibles.
Schedule horticultural activities geared toward the production of superior-quality plants.
Coordinate with procurement for accuracy and timing of plant product deliveries.
Inspect, evaluate, and coordinate with supporting departments and outside parties for the upkeep and proper maintenance of the site's infrastructure, tailored to the needs of diverse horticulture.
Quickly identify quality deviations and non-compliances in blooming plants, foliage, and edibles, taking assertive corrective actions and communicating timely with related stakeholders.
Timely report any repairs or equipment status related to the company rolling stock, ensuring readiness for handling diverse horticultural products.
In partnership with the accounting department, review and analyze Regional Profit & Loss Statements, considering the profitability.
Develop, execute, and oversee the overall regional strategy aimed at achieving profit, cost, quality, productivity, and compliance KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
Address questions, concerns, and/or complaints regarding productionAct as a liaison between the company, customers, and vendors.
Communicate and collaborate with sales and marketing teams to provide training and information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems for blooming plants, foliage, and edibles.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
Maintain a valid CA Driver's License and eligibility for company vehicle insurance.
Perform all duties in accordance with environmental, food safety, safety rules and regulations, with consideration for the specific requirements.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience):
Progressive operational leadership experience in agriculture or horticulture production.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Good understanding of cost allocation and basic understanding of P&L statements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, tailored to the challenges of blooming plants, foliage, and edibles.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Proactive, energetic, and a self-starter who can work independently.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required, with an ability to convey information effectively across blooming plants, foliage, and edibles.
Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) conversational level speaking skills preferred.
Valid CA Driver's License; must maintain eligibility for company vehicle insurance.
